Oldie but Goodie: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

I have always been curious as to why this particular Maybelline mascara is raved by everyone who uses it. Unfortunately, just when I decided to try it, they discontinued the distribution here in the Philippines. Alas, I found an opportunity to try it through Migs. He bough it at Walmart for $4.44 or almost Php 200 pesos. It's amazing and alarming how cheap Maybelline products are sold in the U.S. knowing that a tube costs almost Php 500 here in the Philippines.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is Maybelline's best-selling mascara of all time. I even read an article stating that a tube of this mascara is being sold for every 5 seconds. My mom was looking for this since 2012 so I gave her my other tube that was supposed to be given as a giveaway here. Anyway. Other than the crazy colorful tube of this mascara, the wand applicator makes this product all the more special. The bristles of this spiral wand reaches the tiniest bit of eyelashes which is really great for the length of my uneven lashes. The formula lengthens and thickens even the tips.

What's in my Makeup Kit

It's mid-week again and I just realized this morning that I haven't done any "What's in my bag" post like ever. I just found out that it's such a nice thing to read about a person's personal stuffs because you somewhat know more about them. So here I am sharing a piece of myself.. This is more like a hybrid of "What's in my Makeup Kit"-SLASH-"Makeup Routine". 

Face:

4. Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Silk Cake Powder

So those are my trusted face products for my everyday use. I use Pond's as my moisturizer, then I apply The Face Shop's BB cream. I've been using it for almost a year now and I can say that I couldn't ask for more. It's so reliable and easy to use. Before locking my face using Maybelline Cake powder, I first apply this Majolica Majorca cream de cheek for a long lasting pinkish cheek.

Eyes:

3. bareMinerals Prime Time 

4. Shiseido Maquillage Eyeshadow Palette

5. Daiso Long Lash Mascara

6. Burjois Waterproof eyeliner

My eye makeup takes the longest time of my makeup routine everyday. First, I apply the bareMinerals Prime Time primer to make the eyeshadow color pop out and last long then I apply the Shiseido eyeshadow. I then apply Burjois eyeliner followed by curling my lashes using this Shu Uemura curler. To make the final touches, I use the Daiso mascara and fix my eyebrows using In2it brow powder.

Lips:

3. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart 

This is obviously my favorite part of my makeup routine. Actually, this part of the kit changes like every other day. I change my lippies whenever I feel like it. To moisturize my lips and protect it, I use Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow followed by my chosen lippie which is Revlon Balm Stain and for the finishing touch I use Majolica Majoca Gloss.

Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow

My lips were chapping, cracking, and bleeding two weeks ago. So I decided to try this less than Php 90 balm since I'm out of budget because of all the antibiotics that we have to purchase. I only used this for a couple of days and all the lip problems were gone.

In terms of packaging, it is too cute! I admit it's the first thing that caught my eyes before checking it out and buying it. It's neon pink and I love seeing it in my pouch. So cute!

For less than 90 pesos you get this much of a product! It smells great too. It's flavored with mixed berries, but the blueberry scent stands out most. It is quite pigmented compared to other lip balms and I love how faint the color is, because it looks really natural! Overall, I like this product so much! I'll try the other flavors as well.

Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Silk Cake Powder

Hi there! We're in the middle of the summer season here in the Philippines! THE HEAT!!! That's why I'm searching for products with much much higher SPF and the likes to protect my skin from the rays of the sun. This product caught my attention one time when I was browsing some blogs because of the super duper cutesy packaging and of course the ever promising SPF 21 PA ++. 

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor while PA++ stands for the protection grade of UVA. The more "+" the better UVA protection there is. It is therefore advisable to go for products with the highest PA rating.

My Everyday Facial Care Routine

Today I'm going to show you my everyday facial care routine.
Do you want to know my secret to flawless facial skin? Luckily, I am not that much oily. My only problem is my T-Zone specifically my forehead and nose area. Every now and then a single zit or two will show but will say goodbye after a couple of days or so.

Celeteque Brightening Facial Wash

Zits leaves unlikable marks.. Too prevent it from settling, I use this facial wash to brighten the dark spots. It's really effective!

Defensil Soap

When my skin gets out of control due to hormonal changes, I use Defensil to remove those monstrous pimples!! I discovered this soap when I was pregnant and breaking out.

This is my First EVER Non-Lipstick Cosmetics Review! Let's do this! Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara is the latest Eyelash product of the brand. I I have always been a Clinique Mascara user since I started using make-up because they gave me the volume that I needed with my already long eyelashes. This Maybelline mascara changed my view about drugstore brands. I decided to get this latest product to see for myself if Maybelline is really a something when it comes to mascaras.

So here's my first impression about the product:

Likes:

- I love the packaging and name. I have to give it to their marketing team for the witty idea of having it named after a "rocket launch" and coloring it with blue and pink which is really an eye catcher.

- The rubber brush is a great idea! Instead of having the usual bristles for the brush, having the rubber one doesn't absorb the liquid.

- They're acclaiming the "fast-glide" formula which upon application, doesn't disappoint.

- It glides easily and it doesn't only add volume but additional length as well.

Dislikes:

- It doesn't dry up quickly. I'm into the habit of using an eyelash curler after applying my mascara and it takes a lot of time to dry causing it to stick to the curler. 

- Not yet available here in the Philippines. So I don't know how to get another tube after I ran out. Also, they sell Maybelline mascaras here in a higher price. 

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Angel Rose

I received this lipstick as an exchange-gift last year from my boss. I wrote this on my wishlist. Bloggers here in the Philippines were raving about it's exceptional pigmentation. I saw some swatches online and thought it's slightly similar with Mac Chatterbox. So I tried comparing them:

Maybelline Angel Rose is lighter than Mac Chatterbox. I love the color and its pigmentation. The staying power is just so so. It's very creamy when you apply it but my lips end up chapping every time I wear it! It settles on the lines as well. :( That is why I only gave it 6 out of 10. Too bad I've been a fan of  Soft Azallea since I started loving makeup.
